K-Spec Building Consultants can provide expert building reports as a part of the litigation support process for matters, which are before the Tribunals and courts, Such as the Qld Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) in Queensland, NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) in NSW, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in Victoria and Local Courts.
Mediation / Expert Witness reporting is the most intensive and detailed reports that a Building Consultant conduct. There is no standardised checklist or report proforma available as each property and disputes are judged on a case by case basis. These reports takes considerable time onsite inspecting the property, extensive research and the collation of information to ensure impartially and that all sides are taken into consideration. Therefore an expert witness report can take up 6-8 weeks to finalise.
As Building Consultants, we are experts in our field. However, it is important to stress that we are “Building” Consultants and not Construction Lawyers. Therefore, any matters that considered to be contractual (or variations) will need to be addressed by a relevant legal department. Any comments or notations on our reports relating to contract matters only serve to highlight defects or omissions.
